The interactive Installation "Auto" (engl. car) is an ironic examination of gaming in today's computer culture. The installation is divided by a rear screen projection. On one side is the game controller, which includes a steering wheel and an acceleration pedal. The screen depicts a classic retro-style car-racing arcade game with the car, street, and barriers are shown from a birds-eye view. The participant can drive the tiny car, navigating it through the race course. Behind the screen the mechanics of installation are revealed. An overhead projector displays the race-course, which is drawn on a transparent foil. A special construction made of printer-parts pulls and drags the foil underneath the car, as soon as the participant accelerates, creating the illusion of driving.
